Partnership Meeting LiDO CEO with green batiq explain how the partnership will be. |
We are working hard to develop projects and activities that can become a real solution of our society. Katavi region is to be one of beneficiaries; Since 30/06/2012 LiDO with his partners launched Partnership first meeting in Dar at livingstone hotel opposite Coastal Zone Office to address issues related to climate change specifically on Rural Energy in Tanzania, as a result LiDO a lead Organization of partnership and ESS Foundation become crucial partner, Tuff King Communications Co.LTD decided to provide office to be used as coastal Zone head office Dar Es Salaam.
As partners, we all agree to start activities that can generate funds to support our society as well as Katavi Region.
Father Mgusa: Outreach Coordinator trys to capture the message from LiDO CEO |
ESS foundation Board of Directors wold like to capture all the message related to LiDO partnership Initiative |
KATAVI :A region found in western Tanzania. Have
four Districts: Mpanda town, Mpanda Rural, Mlele and Nsimbo. Its population of 564,604
people is among 80% of Tanzania’s rural poorest live. Main
occupation is peasant farming whose produce is unreliable due to traditional
farming technologies and dependence on rainfall which has been affected by climate
change. There is low per capita consumption of commercial energy (petroleum Hydro
and geothermal electricity) due to low income. These force the community to depend
on natural resources from forests such as firewood, edible wild animals for food
and water from the rivers to meet their basic needs. http://start.org/download/2012/biodiv/tanzania-externship-report
The consequences of climate change to energy are available on the kind of risks posed. Severely refer to: melting of glaciers; floods; frequent and prolonged droughts; reduced water supply; decline in crop yields; increase of vector-borne diseases such as malaria and HIV; rising sea levels leading to displacement of people; degradation of important natural habitats; and disruption of both terrestrial and ecosystems, are now vivid.
Mad. Huruma Kimbe; Current LiDO P.coordinator with her crucial partnership task given |
Madam Huruma Kimbe working as LiDO Senior Programme Coordinator from Muzumbe universty with LiDO CEO Mr. Sunzi already take action to develop a concept note for rural energy solution.
In the process of
supporting project activities, all partners were invited to share their views
and the meeting reached an agreement of
using seed money which will come from partners to support the project
activities. When implementing activities, there is no need of on donors to
avoid delays of implementing some of the project activities. But again seed
money can facilitate when performing a research of any project. Also to get
more seed money, different activities will be invented to increase the amount
of seed money.
Tuff Kings Communication Co.LTD MD realize some think crucial to this initiative |
The findings highlight key challenges to address include: - inadequate financial resources; inadequate
technologies; inadequate human capacity; long and tedious process for accessing
licenses and funds.
So
far the effectively implementation of programmes related to rural energy, partners
are obliged to fulfill their commitments; procedures for accessing seed money
from multilateral/bi-lateral partnership; free and accessible dissemination of
environmentally sound technologies and corresponding know-how; human capacity
on rural energy improvement and adaption should be enhanced. Lastly, the process
to qualify for RE projects should be streamlined and simplified.
We are involving any one to join us for this topic to make sure we serve our community.
